Did you know?!? The demand for food at the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank has increased 5x what we were seeing pre-covid. We gave out 770,000 meals in 2022 valued at over $1.2 million dollars. We are currently on track to distribute OVER 1 MILLION meals locally this year!
Your participation in events like the Annual Driving Out Hunger Golf Tournament are what makes this all possible. Register today to help DRIVE OUT HUNGER in our community. Sign up and Sponsor here: https://cf-ovfo.ticketspice.com/driving-out-hunger-golf-tournament-2023 Available to Orangevale and Fair Oaks Residents, free community meal three times each week. Come receive a hot meal, fellowship, and even hear about other services available in the area. Moving into 2023, we are working hard to be good steward of the food we have available to us. In doing so, we are needing to update our eligibility guidelines in order to make sure we have enough food for our neighbors in need. Please see the flyer below and the eligibility guidelines on the help page.
Have you ever bowled with a turkey before? This event has become one of the most fun things to do in November in Orangevale! We would like to thank everyone that attended and donated as event sponsors, participants, and those that purchased raffle prizes. In the end we raised $10,000! Amazing!
We would also like to give a huge thank you to MaryAnne Povey of Orangevale Live and her team for putting together this event on behalf of the food bank and to Chris and Jenifer from Grocery Outlet for hosting again this year. Competition was tough with the team from Orangevale Water coming out on top, followed by Moore's Garage, and Shadow Glen rounding out the podium. Can't wait until next year. Let's Talk Turkey (and Chicken)! It's time to talk turkey, and this year we're also talking about chicken, to help our neighbors in need enjoy a holiday meal.
We need your help! Our goal this year is to help 500 families during our Thanksgiving Meal distribution on Monday, November 21st. How can you help? Donate a frozen turkey or frozen whole chicken. Chicken?!? Unfortunately, there is a bit of a shortage when it comes to turkeys this year and the turkeys available are more expensive. We have made the decision to collect whole chickens as well to hand out to our smaller families so that everyone can enjoy some kind of poultry with their holiday meal. Donations are being accepted now through Friday, November 18th. Monday through Friday 8:30-12:00 and also Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 each week. Wow, it was so amazing to see the way everyone came together for our 3rd Annual Community Food Drive. Donations rolled in all morning long at Divine Savior where we had hundreds of volunteers eagerly waiting to receive items and sort them for the food bank. Community leaders rallied their groups for the common good, to help feed our neighbors in need.
In the end we collected 20,700 pounds of food and $8900 in cash donations. The words "Thank You" do not begin to convey how truly grateful we are that people are so willing to help. Enjoy a few pictures from this wonderful day.
