New Eligibility Guidelines for 2023
Moving into 2023, we are working hard to be good steward of the food we have available to us. In doing so, we are needing to update our eligibility guidelines in order to make sure we have enough food for our neighbors in need. Please see the flyer below and the eligibility guidelines on the help page.
Turkey Bowl Success!
Have you ever bowled with a turkey before? This event has become one of the most fun things to do in November in Orangevale! We would like to thank everyone that attended and donated as event sponsors, participants, and those that purchased raffle prizes. In the end we raised $10,000! Amazing!
We would also like to give a huge thank you to MaryAnne Povey of Orangevale Live and her team for putting together this event on behalf of the food bank and to Chris and Jenifer from Grocery Outlet for hosting again this year.
Competition was tough with the team from Orangevale Water coming out on top, followed by Moore's Garage, and Shadow Glen rounding out the podium. Can't wait until next year.
Let's Talk Turkey (and Chicken)!
It's time to talk turkey, and this year we're also talking about chicken, to help our neighbors in need enjoy a holiday meal.
We need your help! Our goal this year is to help 500 families during our Thanksgiving Meal distribution on Monday, November 21st.
How can you help? Donate a frozen turkey or frozen whole chicken.
Chicken?!? Unfortunately, there is a bit of a shortage when it comes to turkeys this year and the turkeys available are more expensive. We have made the decision to collect whole chickens as well to hand out to our smaller families so that everyone can enjoy some kind of poultry with their holiday meal.
Donations are being accepted now through Friday, November 18th.
Monday through Friday 8:30-12:00 and also Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 each week.
Thank You Community!
Wow, it was so amazing to see the way everyone came together for our 3rd Annual Community Food Drive. Donations rolled in all morning long at Divine Savior where we had hundreds of volunteers eagerly waiting to receive items and sort them for the food bank. Community leaders rallied their groups for the common good, to help feed our neighbors in need.
In the end we collected 20,700 pounds of food and $8900 in cash donations.
The words "Thank You" do not begin to convey how truly grateful we are that people are so willing to help.
Enjoy a few pictures from this wonderful day.
Grab your friends and come play a round of golf at the beautiful Granite Bay Golf Club to help support the food bank and the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Community Foundation programs. Spots for foursomes are still available to purchase.

Spring Food Drives
It's always a good day to give food to the food bank. We have been blessed by our community with pop up food drives and collections during this spring season. A big thank you to everyone that donated the past few weeks including Fair Oaks Church, House of Bread, Orangevale Pony Ball, Boy Scouts, Helping Hands, Girl Scouts of Central California, and Bishops Storehouse.
If you would like to give food, Christ the King Church in Orangevale on Walnut Avenue, is hosting a food drive all of April and the Orangevale Women's Club will host a food drive at the food bank on Saturday 4/30 from 9-12. We are also excited to be pairing up with California Montessori Project of Orangevale and Green Oaks Elementary for their upcoming drives.
Our current top needs are:
Ready to Eat Canned Meals (SpaghettiOs, Chili, etc.)
Canned or pouch Tuna and Chicken
Rice (1-3 pound bags or boxes)
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Thank you for your continued support, we are able to do great work because of your donations.
Donations may also be dropped off at the food bank Monday through Friday 8:30-12:30 and Wednesdays 3:30-6:00. We also have donation bins out front for after hours and monetary donations maybe be dropped into the security slot under the address numbers by our front door.
We joke here at the food bank that the only constant thing we have is change. Sometimes it's small things like where the Goldfish crackers are going today, and sometimes it's big things like changing of directors.
Keith came to the food bank in January of 2015 where he was a driver and all around go-to volunteer. He then moved into the roll of Assistant Director before becoming the Executive Director in September of 2018. While serving as director he worked hard to make the food bank a positive place for volunteers and a hub of the Orangevale and Fair Oaks communities. There have been improvements to the facility with the addition of the walk-in fridge and freezer and the distribution barn (soon to open), as well as working through the struggles and changes that were brought on by the pandemic. Keith also worked to build relationships with people and organizations in the community that have been invaluable. Having done so many amazing things and putting together a wonderful team, it was time for a new adventure. We are grateful for the time he spent with us here at the food bank and are happy to hear that he will continue on with the OV-FO Community Foundation serving as a board member.
In March of 2022 we welcomed Andrea Scollay as our new Director. Andrea started as a volunteer at the food bank in 2018 as a way to connect a little more with the community. During the summer of 2019 she helped run two of our off-site days with the Food for Thought program that took our food bank on the road and out into neighborhoods for distributions. In January of 2020 she came on staff as an office assistant part-time. Working with the team at the food bank, the pandemic brought many changes in the way we distribute food and she helped implement some of those new processes as the interim Operations Manager through the summer, officially taking that position in September of 2020.
We are excited to continue being a bright spot in the Orangevale and Fair Oaks communities, providing services for those in need as well as a place for volunteering and fellowship.
