It's always a good day to give food to the food bank.  We have been blessed by our community with pop up food drives and collections during this spring season.  A big thank you to everyone that donated the past few weeks including Fair Oaks Church, House of Bread, Orangevale Pony Ball, Boy Scouts, Helping Hands, Girl Scouts of Central California, and Bishops Storehouse.
If you would like to give food, Christ the King Church in Orangevale on Walnut Avenue, is hosting a food drive all of April and the Orangevale Women's Club will host a food drive at the food bank on Saturday 4/30 from 9-12.  We are also excited to be pairing up with California Montessori Project of Orangevale and Green Oaks Elementary for their upcoming drives.

Our current top needs are:
Ready to Eat Canned Meals (SpaghettiOs, Chili, etc.)
Cereal
Canned or pouch Tuna and Chicken
Rice (1-3 pound bags or boxes)
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Soups

Thank you for your continued support, we are able to do great work because of your donations.

Donations may also be dropped off at the food bank Monday through Friday 8:30-12:30 and Wednesdays 3:30-6:00.  We also have donation bins out front for after hours and monetary donations maybe be dropped into the security slot under the address numbers by our front door.

We joke here at the food bank that the only constant thing we have is change.  Sometimes it's small things like where the Goldfish crackers are going today, and sometimes it's big things like changing of directors.
Keith came to the food bank in January of 2015 where he was a driver and all around go-to volunteer.  He then moved into the roll of Assistant Director before becoming the Executive Director in September of 2018.  While serving as director he worked hard to make the food bank a positive place for volunteers and a hub of the Orangevale and Fair Oaks communities.  There have been improvements to the facility with the addition of the walk-in fridge and freezer and the distribution barn (soon to open), as well as working through the struggles and changes that were brought on by the pandemic.  Keith also worked to build relationships with people and organizations in the community that have been invaluable.  Having done so many amazing things and putting together a wonderful team, it was time for a new adventure. We are grateful for the time he spent with us here at the food bank and are happy to hear that he will continue on with the OV-FO Community Foundation serving as a board member.
In March of 2022 we welcomed Andrea Scollay as our new Director.  Andrea started as a volunteer at the food bank in 2018 as a way to connect a little more with the community.  During the summer of 2019 she helped run two of our off-site days with the Food for Thought program that took our food bank on the road and out into neighborhoods for distributions. In January of 2020 she came on staff as an office assistant part-time.  Working with the team at the food bank, the pandemic brought many changes in the way we distribute food and she helped implement some of those new processes as the interim Operations Manager through the summer, officially taking that position in September of 2020.
We are excited to continue being a bright spot in the Orangevale and Fair Oaks communities, providing services for those in need as well as a place for volunteering and fellowship.
